Jindřichův Hradec State Castle and Chateau is one of the most beautiful and monumental chateau complexes in the country.

The original royal castle, built on a rock above the Hamerský Stream and the Nežárka River, was first mentioned in writing around 1200. The most magnificent reconstruction, which transformed the Gothic castle into a grand Renaissance residence, took place in the second half of the 16th century during the reign of the last Lords of Hradec. This period saw the creation of the famous Joachim and Adam buildings, the Spanish Wing, the Small Arcades, and the Large Arcades with a garden featuring the Rondel music pavilion.
