The three-story building is dominated by a central five-axial risalit that protrudes in front of the symmetrical side wings. In 2004, the building was renovated and modernized, with new functional parts added. Thanks to the tasteful combination of contemporary materials and respect for the original architectural design, the building today adorns the right bank of the Otava River with a pleasant, refined appearance of a building that is already practically historic, yet still modern. The interiors were fully renovated and modernized during the reconstruction, and the main – Grand Hall can be easily and quickly transformed into a theater auditorium thanks to the unique telescopic tier (known as “elevation”).
The Grand Hall with a stage and facilities is available. The hall can be used for balls, concerts, conferences, and theater performances. The Grand Hall is accompanied by two anterooms, two side balconies, and two smaller “VIP” balconies.
The cultural center offers many other spaces: a Music Hall, Puppet Hall, VIP Lounge, rock club Uhelna, discotheque club Kotelna, and additional club rooms or conference spaces. To provide refreshments for its visitors, the building is equipped with several bars and a restaurant. The range of refreshments can easily be adapted to the event – from a simple bistro to elaborate buffets.
Grand Hall – The Grand Hall can be used in many ways. Thanks to the so-called “elevation,” a unique retractable auditorium that can either be extended or hidden under the floor, the versatility of the Grand Hall is truly high. During the peak season, when events change frequently, the seating is often pulled out and retracted multiple times a week. For a “grand ball setup,” 20 tables are placed in the hall, seating up to 204 guests. Visitors can also make use of two anterooms and two large side balconies (4 × 66 seats) and two VIP balconies with 18 seats each. In total, up to 665 people can be seated.
In the theater or conference setup, the hall can accommodate up to 459 people.
For a ball, the capacity can be up to 850 people.
The individual capacities are determined based on the Fire Safety Solution – Technical Report (April 2002).
Music Hall – The Music Hall is located on the third floor at the front of the building, offering a magnificent view of the Otava River, as well as the Kamenný and Nový bridges. Until the 1990s, there was also a beautiful view of the generously designed and interesting building of the Portyč cinema, although today the colorful “Titanik” obstructs the view.
The Music Hall can be used for more intimate concerts or training and lecture events. The hall comfortably accommodates up to 104 visitors.
Puppet Hall – The hall called the Puppet Hall, as its name suggests, is primarily intended for performances aimed at young audiences or various training sessions. It is located in the right wing of the building and has a capacity of 82 seats.
VIP Lounge – The lounge, also located in the right wing of the cultural center, is intended for smaller training sessions, celebrations, and similar events with 15-30 people. It is a pleasant, sunny room with its own bar, audiovisual equipment, and, most importantly, a sense of privacy.
Uhelna Club – The club on the ground floor of the Cultural Center is primarily intended for concerts featuring screeching guitars, booming drums, and rock-style screaming vocals. The low-ceilinged space of the former coal storage creates a cozy, dark atmosphere, perfect for immersing oneself in the sound pouring from the speakers. Uhelna can accommodate up to 46 seated guests.
