Jindřichův Hradec Castle is one of the most beautiful and monumental castle complexes in our country. The original manor house, built on a rock above the Hamerský brook and the Nežárka River, was mentioned in the written records around 1200. The most magnificent reconstruction, which turned the Gothic castle into a stunning Renaissance mansion, took place in the second half of the 16th century during the reign of the last Lords of Hradec. In this period the famous Jáchym’s and Adam’s buildings, the Spanish wing, the Small Arcades and the Great Arcades with garden and the Rondel music pavilion were built.
