Gastronomical experiences in the Lipno region
The Lipno region is not just a place for sports and tourism; you can also experience a real culinary feast there – to enjoy this amazing place with all your senses. Many products in this region have the ŠUMAVA original product® trademark.
First of all head to Rožmberk nad Vltavou. In the centre of the historic town (right on the banks of the Vltava) is restaurant ‘U Martina’, from where there is a romantic view of the Rožmberk Castle. Here you can taste certified products such as roasted chicken leg with mushroom noodles or honey crust, Rosenberg skewer with roasted potato chips and thyme, a feast of the Lords of Rosenberg, or Šumava smoked pork collar with traditional mashed potatoes mixed with sauerkraut. You can also buy certified honey products with the Rožmberk honey trademark at the hotel of the same name. A little further upstream, in Vyšší Brod, you can taste certified pastries from the sweetshop ‘Cukrárna Eva’, and Jakub beer from Vyšebrodský mini-brewery. When in Frymburk, don’t forget to stop at the Maxant Hotel and visit its renowned patisserie, where you can buy certified Frymburk jam. On the very edge of the Lipno destination, close to the place where the Lipno Reservoir near Nová Pec begins, be sure to visit the Slunečná family organic farm. Here you can buy fresh beef or mutton, homemade cheese, curd or milk, and enjoy gastronomical experiences along with breathtaking views of the border ridges towering over Lipno.
